Population:

South Sudanese population is estimated at 11-13 million people (Government of South Sudan 2009).

There is no clear figure,as the 2009 census has been criticised and deemed as invalid.Mainly as the data intended to include the South Sudanese diaspora,but larger overseas South Sudanese diaspora  populations in many countries where not included.

Previously part of the Equatoria province until 1984
